Golf 1.4 GTE P064F00 Unauthorized Software/Calibration Detected
Hi,
I am international mechanic in Horsens, I did timing belt on a hybrid system. Of course by following procedures when working on hybrid systems. However I got the error above for hybrid system and battery regulation. The thing is that every thing works and both the engine and battery system are fine, I have the error on the dash because of that. Has anyone experienced something similar?

This is what Google AI says about the error:
https://forums.tdiclub.com/index.php?th ... ng.531379/
But perhaps our resident VAG expert @Watcher might shine more light on the matter
And there is something about it here too:Based on search results from Volkswagen Group technical service bulletins (TSB) and diagnostic forums (which often reference Ross-Tech VCDS data), the fault code P064F00 is defined as:
P064F00: Unauthorized Software/Calibration Detected
This fault indicates that the Engine Control Module (ECM/PCM) has detected that its operating software or calibration data does not match the expected authorized signature, often pointing to a "TD1" (tuning) flag or a corrupted flash procedure.
Common Causes
Engine Tuning/Re-mapping: The ECU has been flashed with non-factory software.
Failed/Interrupted ECU Update: The calibration failed during a dealer update or aftermarket flashing process.
ECM Replacement Issues: On newer VW models (e.g., ID.4, Taos), this code can set after an ECM replacement if the software/coding procedure (such as SVM - Software Version Management) was not completed correctly.
Symptoms
Flashing glow plug light (Diesel).
Check Engine Light (MIL).
Engine may enter limp mode.
Technical Solutions/Notes
Hotfix/SVM Code: This often requires a specific ODiS "Hotfix" or a properly executed SVM code to restore the authorized signature.
ECM Replacement: If the error persists (static/active) after trying to flash the correct software, it may require replacing the Engine/Motor Control Module (J623).

Hmm thank you, I actually believe that problem lies in software, I’ve been talking to electrician just few minutes ago. He said probably I would need to flash a new software so I would like to give it a shot. I just dont know if there is someone with ODIS around that could do it. Also car itself is stock.

You dont need odis, you proberly cant even do it with thar unless its engineeing. Either you need VCP, or someone with a CMD, Autotuner or something with a back to stock option.

User known as @kreativ lives in the Horsens area.
He's highly skilled on the technical aspects (incl. software) of VAG cars.
I don't know if he's able to help here though, but I suggest you PM him and ask

Re: Golf 1.4 GTE P064F00 Unauthorized Software/Calibration Detected
UPDATE:
I have a guy at official VW, he scheduled me yesterday, so what he did is he just updated the software and problem was gone, honestly I expected it to be resolved that way.

Re: Golf 1.4 GTE P064F00 Unauthorized Software/Calibration Detected
Thanks for getting back with an update
Do you know in more detail which software he updated ? Was it the ECU ?
As Watcher mentioned earlier ; dealership is able to flash sw to the ECU provided an update is available.
If it's just a matter of re-flashing the existing version then dealership will likely not be able to do that.
But maybe, in this case, you were "saved" by exactly that ... an update being available.

Re: Golf 1.4 GTE P064F00 Unauthorized Software/Calibration Detected
So I couldn't see much since it was off the record, car went in the service and I was not able to come in which of course is understandable. I believe it was all controlling units including ECU that were updated, for hybrids I am unsure how it works but I guess they have separate controlling units maybe I am wrong. When it comes to hybrid systems and their management I don't know much, I am more into mechanical stuff. Guy didn't tell me much since he cannot speak English (he is Ukrainian) however, he said it is at the end VW so he was not surprised.
I might understand what happened, customer told me that the battery was changed in warranty time, due to the battery system being new with flaws since it was one of the first models. It was replaced with some E-tron battery and range became 45 km instead of 30 km so once I disconnected HV battery I believe something got messed up with the software. Since customer stated that the car was not tunned and there was not any additional software on the car. I have some connections in country where I come from (Croatia in case you are curious) and guys that have done it never experienced something similar...
At the end guy at VW told me, run away from hybrid systems and EVs from VW.
And one more thing, I actually have some experience with software updates specifically for VW, I can say it helps for some things not always but it can solve some things such as this.
